The building and construction industry is the largest employer of trades apprentices in the Australian economy.  With over 50,000 apprentices and a total workforce of more than one million people there are always opportunities to start a career in one of the construction trades.

If you enjoy physical outdoor work in a team environment, and do not mind the early starts and sometimes challenging working conditions, then a construction apprenticeship may be for you.  The construction workforce is increasingly diverse, and women, Indigenous Australians and people from a non-English speaking background are particularly encouraged to consider a career in the building and construction industry.

In addition, for Indigenous Australians just beginning their careers, or developing new skills to change jobs, the building and construction industry offers entry points for:

  • school leavers
  • apprentices
  • trainees
  • cadets
  • graduates
