• EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST FOR POTENTIAL INSPECTORS

On 1 January 2018 the Strata Schemes Management Act 2015 commenced. The Act requires an inspection process for identifying building defects in residential unit construction that is not subject to Home Building Compensation Fund insurance, that is more than 3 storeys.

The Act nominates the Master Builders Association NSW as one of nine (9) industry organizations that are empowered to establish Strata Inspection Panel.

This Strata Inspection Panel will list accredited inspectors who will be authorised to conduct the appropriate building inspections required under the Act.

Master Builder NSW in serving its members intends to hold an information and expression of interest session to:

• Briefly explain the working of the Act
• Outline the role of the Inspector under the Act
• Explain the operation of a proposed MBA Strata Inspection Panel
• Outline the process for inspectors to be eligible for inclusion on the MBA Strata Inspection Panel. The issues that will be canvassed will include:
  • Inspectors qualifications
  • Areas of specialty
  • Consultant Grading
  • Proposed Inspectors Course
• Gain an understanding of the level of interest from its members to be included on the Strata Inspection Panel
