The 2012 Young Builder of the Year is a country-based builder who is extremely active in the coal-rich town of Mudgee. With a shortage of rental accommodation and new homes due to the mining boom, he is producing many quality and attractive homes at very competitive prices. His winning entry this year is a twist on the typical family home, with traditional raked eaves lined with timber lining boards and flow onto the ceiling of the porch and alfresco area. Dark bricks, cedar features in the panelift door and entrance door add contrast to the timberwork. Innovative louvre and corner windows add interest to the open plan living. The winner is Anthony Lynch of the Lynch Building Group.
