Award Pools designed and constructed this magnificent pond-dam on a rural property on the outskirts of Sydney. The natural design incorporates Australiana materials such as railway sleepers, old water tanks and Australian native plants. Old galvanised water tanks were converted to biological filtration which include bio balls and other media for a pure, natural filtering process. A water feature from the galvanised tank is constructed out of recycled timbers and another large water feature cascades along the rock outcrop, which is constructed from natural and artificial rock. The pond is fed by a natural spring so there is no need to top up the water. Award Pools also constructed a large steel fabricated swing so that the kids can swing over the water and then row around in the small boat. The pond-dam is home to 150 silver perch, many species of wildlife and 25 water dragons. The end result is an area that not only looks fantastic, but it is also a tranquil space in which to relax and for the kids to enjoy.
