Buildcorp are constantly striving for continual improvement. This year the safety team developed a method for measuring safety lead indicators, named the “Safety Index”. Their  ‘proactive’ safety data includes; safely managing all our high-risk construction work, conducting daily pre-start talks with every worker every morning on every site, 100% of weekly reports complete accurately, identifying & sharing our safety initiatives from our sites, each Senior Manager conducts at least 24 site safety inspections per year, good incident investigations which fix the process (not blame the person), findings from monthly external site safety audits, findings from internal system audits, good PPE compliance, good housekeeping. We calculate all this data each month to determine a ‘Safety Index’. The Safety Index will show a result of either Proactive, Active, Reactive or Inactive. Our safety management is then determined by our weakest link across all the proactive data, so we need to be doing everything right to score in the ‘Proactive’ range.
