This project involved the refurbishment of an existing 100-year-old hotel and an extension of the hotel to an adjoining vacant lot. It was undertaken in three stages to ensure the hotel and an upstairs function centre could remain in operation throughout the building works.
There was good use of exposed coloured aggregate concrete paving and honed concrete surfaces, all finished to a high quality. The large amount of back propping required to the existing timber structure resulted in many issues having to be resolved in order to complete the project in an impressive 13 months. The retention and upgrade to the finishes, particularly to the upstairs function room, is of high quality.
The new structure and finishes are a great improvement on the previous facility and reflect the enthusiasm of the construction team.
