The Jannawi Pavilion in the Macquarie University, is an attractive and functional gathering place for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, staff and visitors.
The 32m-diameter structural-steel ring, supported on 23 steel columns and concrete pavilion, sits atop an existing embankment. The roof structure consists of 13m clear-span Glulam beams covered with trafficable fire-resistant polycarbonate roof panels. The structure was infilled with detailed laser-cut screening, seating and joinery items. The landscaping to the embankments comprises of massed native plants, sandstone log terraces and informal seating areas.
