The refurbishment includes intricate painting work in a heritage colour scheme and replacing the shop fronts with frameless glass.  Four additional escalators and landings were erected in the atrium and lighting fixtures and building services including the car park lifts were upgraded.  All major work was required to be undertaken out of normal trading hours. 
The work was completed in 18 months.
