This project involved the design and construction of the refurbishment to the existing building entrance lobby. The works included the demolition, upgraded entry finishes, external awning, new mezzanine level and walkway. Challenges’ including ensuring the access to the building was maintained while external works were required to be completed in close proximity to the exit of North Sydney station entrance, were key factors adding to the degree of difficulty of this project. Features of the project included the construction of new café facilities, recycled timber feature walls, accessible chair lift, mezzanine and glass floor bridging walkway and sandblasted new wall tiles and stone flooring. Caldwell had to maintain access to the entrance of the building resulting in an alternate temporary access being created through a vacant tenancy, which resulted in the initial staging requirements being rationalized. The high-quality finishes that were specified were well executed and the finish achieved was of a high standard. Overall the works were well executed and demonstrated a high level of skill to achieve the result in a difficult work environment.
