The Institute located at Menangle involved the construction of 1,000m2 of PC3 laboratories, 5,000m2 of PC2 and the refurbishment of 5,000m2 of existing PC2 laboratories.  
As the building is located in a mine subsidence area, the structural columns are connected to the footings using bridge bearing plates.
The structure is of reinforced concrete and structural steel, with Colorbond Kingspan steel composite roofing, wall sheeting and extensive glazing.
The laboratory and office fitout work is of a very high clinical standard.
The building was completed in 20 months.
