The Field of Dreams project at Oxford Falls Grammar incorporated the construction of a two story facility encompassing 79 parking spaces, ground floor amenities, suspended competition playing courts incorporating a bespoke canopy structure, outdoor study and landscaping on level 1. Midway through the construction additional scope was added incorporating the conversion of an outdoor study area to enclosed learning environments to house library spaces and amenities on the first floor. The scope also included a bridge over the adjacent creek to link the existing campus, together with bleacher seating, honed concrete finishes and extensive landscaping works. Foundation works including CFA piling were carried out under extremely wet conditions in 2022 in conjunction with experiencing ground conditions that were worse than anticipated which put pressure on the programme from the outset. In addition to this a client requested redesign to incorporate additional works required the project team work collaboratively with the design team to allow the works to continue and revise the programme to minimise delays. Complicated steelwork for the outdoor structure, long lead times for both the steel and fabric roofing and on site rolling of Aramex roofing all added to the construction complexities of this project. Materials handling systems included a 450T crane for sections of the steelwork due to access constraints inherent to the site. The completed standard of finish was high, and the management processes adopted provided for a successful outcome of this Project allowing the school to move into the space over the midyear break.
