The Mt Druitt Hospital project consisted of a number of stages across different areas of the hospital. The program required the Pre-Admissions Clinic, L2 MRI extension, L2 Recovery extensions and Operating Theatre 2 to be constructed concurrently. Refurbishment works to the existing Recovery 3 and EDO were undertaken upon the completion of the L2 extension and Pre-Admissions Clinic.  As the project was constructed within an operational hospital, noise, dust, vibration management, consideration of sterile areas and surgery timetables all had to be reviewed and managed to minimise the effect on hospital operations.  Access to various areas was, in some cases, limited, and required specialist equipment, eg to construct piles and trenching in a low-height environment. The project posed many challenges due to working within a live operational hospital environment. There were a number of major service upgrades requiring cut-overs without unplanned interruption to the existing hospital facilities.  Careful planning of site access was required to ensure access to the site did not interfere with hospital operations.  There many finish types throughout the building relating to each area of the facility, ranging from general office areas through to recovery rooms and operating theatres.  The site appears to have been well managed and the project completed to a high standard of finish within a tight program time.
