The project includes the construction of a two-storey training academy building of 2400m2, a combined heavy-duty truck wash and parking structure and a residual hardstand of 3500m2. The integrated design-and-construct fit-out for Fire & Rescue was completed during the construction period. Located in the foyer is the vintage fire engine and memorabilia.  The project was constructed concurrently with the whole estate infrastructure works required for subdivision. The estate infrastructure involved the conversion of a former rural-zoned site into a commercial and industrial site by the importation of 500,000m3 of fill.  The delivery of all building materials was highly co-ordinated due to the high volume of trucks filling the overall site, alongside earthworks machinery undertaking civil and services works. This involved establishing and decommissioning five different site access points over the 11-month period.  While the building is a relatively straightforward structure, it contains many unusual spaces and uses. The judges have given the award due to the clear and precise methodology and construction undertaken to deliver the purpose-built project effectively.
