The Sydney Coliseum Theatre is a new multi-purpose entertainment complex located in the heart of Western Sydney. This unique and exciting venue will create a hub for the arts, culture and entertainment, bringing new flavour to the region. This new entertainment hub of Western Sydney is an unprecedented project, set to change the face of the theatrical landscape in NSW and nationally. The use of drones, 3D BIM and clash detection, 4D sequencing and programing allowed the team to simulate the planned sequencing of works. The team could collectively assess any safety-related risk and proactively identify temporary works, exclusion zones and protection systems that may be required. Safety in design principals featured heavily at every stage of this project. The stand out being one that saw a mobile crane being elevated over a structure that was not capable of holding its weight, supported by cleverly engineered stilts enabling the movement of material without compromising the structural integrity of the structure beneath it, which is why this entry is a winning formula.
