The project provides an innovative and unique hydraulically operated cricket pitch accessible from the carpark below, with a transformable sports field surface adding year-round versatility to the existing space.
The cricket pitch was designed and developed as a bespoke element of the project and has never been undertaken before in this configuration. 
The HY team reviewed the way in which the pitch was to be installed, operated and maintained to give end-users the safest way to use. A decision was made to provide access to the pitch from the underside and utilise the workable space within the carpark for its hydraulic operation. 
The ACU, the adjacent St Patrick’s College and council are all beneficiaries of this unique innovation.
