This project is a 1,800m2 single floor high end office fit-out for a Top 20 ASX listed company. The client’s ethos was centred around the circular economy and moving offices from their existing premises allowed the office to become a magnet to encourage employees back to the office to reconnect face to face. The brief was to create an office design that was more akin to a buzzing café than a traditional corporate office with a focus on social engagement, togetherness, flexibility and hybrid new ways of working. The new workspace is located on level 4 of a new A-grade modern building designed by renowned Danish architectural firm 3XN, and enjoys tree lined views over the Lane Cove National Park and the extensive natural scenery beyond. Working closely with the base building team - the landlord, client and consultant team, Hunter Mason delivered this fit-out within a live construction site as the base building was still under construction. Hunter Mason was able to achieve the accelerated programme for the fit-out, with careful planning to ensure materials were delivered and removed from site via the single goods lift for the duration of construction which had to be shared with other fit-out contractors.The single level office space spans the entire floor plate and comprises of a variety of high acoustic rated meeting rooms, focus rooms, health & wellness rooms, open plan work areas, collaboration rooms, and a large breakout space. The internal glazing to meeting rooms is double glazed and is full height providing uninterrupted views of Macquarie Park for staff and visitors to enjoy. In the open plan office, the suspended ceiling has been removed in favour of a tastefully painted exposed services ceiling zone exposing the sheet steel A/C ductwork - ware house fashion. Part of the scope included the replacement of the base building flexi duct with the more traditional and aesthetic sheet steel ducts. The internal glazing and door frame assemblies, with sophisticated acoustic door seals, are beautifully detailed and are manufactured out of bamboo. The whole experience when entering this office fit-out is of a Zen like calm reflecting the image of the logistics company client – well organised, overwhelming logic, and calm under pressure together with a high degree of efficiency.
