This project involved the transformation of a historic mechanic’s workshop in the heart of Darlinghurst into four boutique and luxurious terraces.
There were numerous difficulties encountered during the construction, mostly because the builder was converting a severely deteriorated building into new habitable living space. The building is set in a heritage conservation area so the existing facade was retained but restricted to be cosmetic, with new flashings and supporting structure constructed throughout.
The selection of Bowral Blue bricks was “locked in” due to the existing brickwork but the internal finishes of Oakmolto brushed timber flooring and stone bathroom finishes was inspired. The terraces are finished internally to a superb level and the judges are pleased to be able to acknowledge these homes in this exclusive category of Townhouses over $1 million.
