The Bankstown RSL Club involved the construction of a substantial, multi-faceted club venue and facilities for the local Bankstown community. Construction comprised a significant bulk earthworks package including excavation and piling of a vacant site, basement car parking, two club levels and two levels of car parking as well as public domain and services infrastructure upgrades.
The club facilities include an extensive 300-machine gaming room, conference and meeting room facilities, multiple food offerings, a renowned buffet and live entertainment venues.
The judges considered that the project was difficult but well resolved despite issues of land acquisition, financial strain on the construction budget, re-engineering and re-documentation for a revised scheme, then asbestos removal and deadline restraints. However, the project was delivered in 14 months for $62 million.
