The project 1 Parramatta Square is a 15 storey 5 Star Green Star (Design), A-Grade commercial building in the heart of the Parramatta CBD and is the first stage of the revitalisation of the Parramatta Square Precinct – one of the largest urban renewal projects in Australia. This building houses the Western Sydney University’s Business School and features a curtain wall façade with horizontal and vertical louvres and terracotta tiles applied to the building core walls on the western elevation. The building features a stunning 9 storey atrium at the building entry and an integrated fit out of technologically advanced teaching spaces. The site was located on the corner of Macquarie and Smith Streets, one of the busiest corners in Parramatta CBD for pedestrian and vehicle movements.The site access was limited to a 6m gate in Smith Street and an 18 metre loading zone in Macquarie Street, causing very difficult materials handling for the construction team. The building and the integrated fit out at 1 Parramatta Square has been completed to a high quality of workmanship and is a credit to a dedicated design and construction team.
