This project included the design and construction of a replacement Grandstand at WIN Stadium, Wollongong.
The scope works included;
.    a covered two-tier grandstand, with associated amenities and back-of-house facilities;
.    ground floor lease areas fronting Harbour Street for future business premises; and
.    upgrade of existing parking facilities and reconfiguration of the public domain.
On 2 February 2011 Lipman, WorkCover NSW, Illawarra Venues Authority, NSW Public Works, the South Coast Labour Council and the union formalised the first Illawarra Venues Authority Statement of Alliance.
The alliance is embedded with appropriate protocols, meetings and initiatives that will ensure successful OHS and Injury Management outcomes.
The project team encountered and overcame significant difficulties in the construction of the roofing structure for the grandstand during the ongoing use of the stadium and associated club and entertainment centre areas.
The project team demonstrated a commitment to safety in design concepts as they incorporated a consultative approach to develop and then implement a crane and conveyor based system for the installation of the grandstand roofing structure.
This system not only allowed for the use of the stadium for league games out of construction hours, but it also meant that the roofing works were able to be completed without the traditional adoption of a cumbersome scaffolding system; which in turn reduced the likelihood of many workers being exposed to the risks of falls and falling objects.
