This project entailed a major reconfiguration and upgrade of Bankstown Central shopping centre, comprising 35 Separable Portions, each necessitating its own Occupation Certificate. The scope of work included: Bus Interchange Works / Coles Carpark Work, Mall Ambience Works, Central Amenities, New Coles Tenancy, Level 1 Tenancy Upgrade Works, Level 2 Tenancy Upgrade Works, Base Build Requirements for Major Tenants, Cat 1 Works Associated with Tenancy Fit-Out work by others. New Vertical Transportation Installation Upgrade Works, Supply and Installation of Vertical Transportation Items. Works were conducted both inside and outside normal trading hours. Noise management was crucial, with restrictions on noisy works after 9.00 am daily due to Development Approval and client requirements. Careful programming ensured subcontractors had sufficient time for work while maintaining compliance with noise constraints. Bankstown Central is a major shopping precinct making delineation between construction and public areas paramount. A strong focus was placed on ensuring public areas were safe and compliant before handover back to the centre after each night shift. The Bankstown Central shopping centre underwent a significant reconfiguration and upgrade, with intricate coordination across 35 phases to maintain continuous operation. Transformations included converting car parks into a bus interchange and vice versa, upgrading mall amenities, and constructing new tenancies like Coles. Challenges such as noise management and working in a live environment were carefully addressed, alongside innovative solutions like temporary timber flooring for accessibility and safety.
