The project “Level 2 Broadway Sydney” was the complete redevelopment of Level 2 of this trading shopping centre to create a very unique, high quality, urban inspired dining and fashion precinct whilst maintaining the trading environment of this very busy shopping centre.
Working in an operational environment, Mainbrace successful carried out the complete stripping out of all existing finishes, services and all tenancies throughout Level 2 and totally refurbished this level with new flooring, ceilings, column finishes, balustrades, lighting, services and two new travelators. Concurrently demolishing the Level 2A Mezzanine Carpark slab and converting this area into new retail space for a new mini major and two smaller tenancies.
The major construction difficulty was materials handling of the removal demolished materials and delivery of all new materials for the refurbishment work. Access was limited to:-
(i)    A mono-rail crane with 2 tonne capacity with a work zone on Francis Street.
(ii)    A material hoist from a compound in Grose Street.
The construction site worked 24 hours per day and finished the works on time in 49 weeks.
The refurbished Level 2 of Broadway Sydney Shopping Centre is a credit to Mainbrace, their site team and the workman who together achieved the Owners objectives and finished the project to an extremely high quality, on time and maintained shop trading throughout the construction period.
