The David Jones department store has been a Sydney icon for over 100 years. The challenge for Mainbrace was to modernise the building whilst maintaining normal trading activities. Mainbrace have achieved this, and a walk through the building quickly shows the classic ambience which prevails everywhere although most of the work took place at night and involved the progressive strip out of each new floor.
