Eight months of enabling works for the North Rocks Shopping Centre Coles Redevelopment included a new fire control hub and pump rooms, a chamber substation requiring decommissioning and removal, then three new external transformers.
It also included a new switch room, a new compliant sprinkler system, the rebuilding of security and communications rooms and restrengthening the old structure with earthquake bracing and carbon-fibre reinforcing to slabs and columns. This was all before the new upgrade could start. It was a technically challenging project in almost every aspect, not least the enabling works and numerous interfaces with the existing structure.
