The site, located in one of Bondi’s most desirable pockets and taking in the amazing Pacific Ocean, posed many problems for the builders because of the close proximity to other residences, not to mention the limited access for delivery and storage of materials in this high-density area. The basement was to be built boundary to boundary, with minimal rock breaking allowable. Once the builders were out of the ground they were faced with the additional logistical dilemmas due to the location and height of the overhead powerlines. Pumping concrete to the three suspended slabs could only be worked with the use of a line pump and materials could not be placed by crane to any level beyond the ground floor, so they needed to be positioned on the terrace then either lifted or manually moved to the desired location.

The residence is a mix of natural and manufactured materials that blend seamlessly together, giving the residence a warm and opulent feel. Slabs of Carrara marble line the ensuite walls and floors, while wide oak engineered timber floorboards were used in the living areas. Brass tubing creates a wonderful entry screen and balustrade to the staircase void. Basins carved from solid marble slabs hang from the bathroom walls and Corian and 3mm stainless-steel benchtops were used in the kitchens as benchtops.

Frameless glass walls and door surround the staircase void, allowing light to filter through the levels, while creating a sense of space and transparency. The residence has an in-ground pool, decking which covers the courtyard floors and cedar fences line the boundaries.

The front facade is most attractive, with stonemasons laying more than 1100 individual pieces of Quartzite stone, embedding this beautifully crafted home into an amazing landscape.
