Building 1 (Axle) South Eveleigh is a new landmark 10-level purpose-designed-and constructed building incorporating the integrated fitout of 42,500m2 of premium commercial space, an 80-child childcare centre and ancillary retail spaces.
The building was built on an existing car park, with no demolition required, only removal of existing asphalt and vegetation, before excavation and piling.
The structure comprised four jump forms systems for concrete lift cores and fire stairs, post-tensioned slabs, structural steel, prefabricated construction systems, off-form concrete, internal connecting bridges over a large structural-steel atrium with external glass facades, 10 passenger lifts, a car park lift, a goods lift, disability lift and all the associated services and safety requirements of an A-class commercial building.
The integrated open fitout on each floor level consisted of approximately 575 workstations, 35 meeting rooms, four hub kitchenette spaces, a large commercial kitchen and café spaces.
The entire project team is to be congratulated on delivering such a large, complex building of the highest quality in materials, finishes and workmanship, together with state-of-the-art services and technology, within the contract program time of 27 months and on budget.
