The Hoxton Park Distribution Centre represents a landmark Design and Construction redevelopment of a 30 hectare portion of the former Hoxton Park Airport site by Mirvac Constructions for Woolworth’s new statewide distribution operations for Big W and Dick Smith.
Works included the importation of over 200,000m3 of fill, construction of over 1.5km of new road network, 2.5km of sewer and water infrastructure, 5.5km of power feeders and two warehouse distribution facilities with a combined internal under cover area of 135,000m2.
The scale and nature of the warehouses required the contractor to ensure the efficient and effective use of ambient space including daylight harvesting, thermal and indoor quality strategies to ensure a stable warehouse environment and a high level of indoor environment comfort for the occupants.
Works were managed by two dedicated Mirvac construction teams from a central site office with onsite staff constantly monitoring progress to ensure that quality was maintained throughout construction.
