This fitout was undertaken in a heritage-listed, sensitive building due to its history. Its history is remembered by the original plaques on the inner wall of the cellar and a permanent floral tribute housed on the central tasting table. The Cellar Project provides an immersive and high-touch experience tailored to cater to the needs of premium customers. With more than 2,800 products housed at The Cellar by Dan Murphy’s with some of the 350 wines so rare, the Cellar only stocks one or two of them. The project features a temperature-controlled Icon tasting room, a unique layout and ornate marble columns, stylish fixtures and impressive hardwood floor. Being in a central, high traffic corner of the CBD, there was a lot of considerations with permits, access, and sensitive neighbours to consider. Noisy works could only be completed at night. The building didn’t have a loading dock or goods lift, so all deliveries needed to be managed and coordinated with the City of Sydney Council to occur out of hours in Martin Place. MPA have required a high level of skill and attention to detail to achieve the final result of a striking high-end experience in the heart of Sydney.
