The Margaret Whitlam Recreation Centre consists of a grandstand with undercover seating for 250 people, community and club meeting rooms, a terrace café and an indoor rubber floored sports court and amenities. 
The sweeping structural steel canopy and curved “Ritek” roof is a feature of the centre which, being close to the ocean, is painted with a three coat epoxy system.
The clear span roof over the indoor court has a series of two metre deep post tensioned beams.
This is an impressive grandstand and sporting facility. The work was completed in 14 months.
