Situated on the seventh level within Building 4 of the University of Technology Sydney, the existing space was originally a plant room housing mechanical equipment which serviced the whole building. The challenge was to build a PC2 rated laboratory within the existing space including negative pressures.
The UTS Anatomy Laboratory contains leading edge technology within a limited space, allowing future doctors to undertake surgery in a clinical environment with state-of-the- art audio visual equipment and surgical lighting.
Within Building One, level two is a 16 degree PC2 rated mortuary which was constructed for the preparation of bodies.
Construction access was extremely difficult within a functional university with stringent controls for vibration, dust and noise.
