This year’s Master Builder of the Year winner is Pimas Gale Pty Ltd who have entered many quality homes into the MBA Awards over the past seven years. According to the judges, Pimas Gale’s entry this year is truly amazing, consisting of the following job brief: - Redevelop and upgrade an existing multi-storey 1939 apartment block at Point Piper on Sydney Harbour; Reconstruction of the existing sea-wall to enable a new three metre excavation and water-tight car park below the water level on the land side of the sea wall; Construction of a new basement car park under the existing apartment building and grassed forecourt; The construction of a new foyer with an internal lift and concrete staircase from the basement car park to level four within the core of the building and a new glass facade; The construction of an eighth (new) apartment; The internal upgrade of the existing apartments; Construction of a new swimming pool including landscaping... This extraordinarily complex project saw numerous challenges faced by Pimas Gale including liaising with seven clients and their individual architects and consultants, harbour tides, winds and natural element, excavating under and support of existing apartment block, engineering design and the interface between the existing and new building. The project has taken 24 months without any major problems. According to the judges, the finishes throughout are exceptional. A truly worthy winner.
