The builder has called this “The Avalon Tree House” and in the judge’s opinion this is a very apt description because it is situated well up into the trees. The design features two bedrooms, two balconies with ocean glimpses and a fully functional kitchen, modern bathroom and complete laundry tucked away behind joinery doors.
The home has been designed to sit high on the block and well above the roadside. The shape of the house is designed to utilise the surrounding trees and embrace the landscaping and native gardens. The back of the house is at ground level and the front about 6m above the ground level. The slope is extremely steep and the judges were impressed with the builder’s ability to coordinate the construction in such a challenging location.
The external cladding is well planned and most attractive with stainless-steel wire balustrades complementing the merbau decking. A worthy winner on such a difficult site.
