The Greater Sydney Area Helicopter Medical Services Facility is a unique industrial commercial project that combines a diverse number of specific uses within the single project. From the 3.6m deep training pool to the variety of training spaces, operational air ambulance helicopter hangers and maintenance areas. The buildings which form the overall facility comprise the Hanger Building which hosts the operations of the New South Wales Ambulance Service and a Training Centre being operated by Toll remote Logistics. The Hanger building has a flight line hanger space for 3 Leonardo AW139 helicopters along with associated administrative space for the operation of the aero medical retrieval facility. Also located in this building are two maintenance hangar bays complete with parts stores and workshops.  The Hanger building also houses 24 en-suite single occupancy units for crew rest facilities. The training centre offers a number of world class training facilities in the one facility, including highly realistic mission simulation for helicopter pilots, aircrew and specialist personnel, such as air medical teams. The purpose-designed building includes specialist training rooms with simulation technology, a training pool, auditorium, meeting rooms and café. Both buildings are constructed of steel and precast concrete panels with lightweight aluminium cladding providing the balance of wall cladding. A glass curtain wall system is utilised for the entrance to both buildings with the buildings also requiring acoustic treatment due to its location at Bankstown Airport.
A significant amount of time was spent to ensure the fire suppressant system was developed to ensure minimal risk to the environment in the event of a deployment of the system.  This is a high tech, high quality facility that provides critical services and backup resources to the NSW Air Ambulance. The execution of the works has been completed to a high standard in both level of finish and technical execution.
