The new building was completed over four stages and includes a basement carpark, plant rooms, sporting facility, two levels of teaching areas, lecture theatre, amenities and external tennis courts at level two. Before commencement, Quasar prepared a qualitative risk assessment for all work-related activities on the project, paying particular attention to the movement of staff, students, visitors and general public.  The complex project had limited access. Traffic control measures were used for the entire construction period to monitor deliveries, vehicular and student movement.  The major difficulties were the construction of a post-tension concrete slab over an existing two-storey structure and the fabrication on site of 2 x 6m-high x 30m-long structural-steel trusses to be erected over the indoor sports facility.    The indoor sports facility was uniquely designed, enhanced by the natural lighting and acoustic ply wall linings to its perimeters. A removable timber flooring system was implemented and installed over a rubber sports floor. This enabled the school to alternate between varying sporting activities. With limited school space available, the level two concrete roof was designed to accommodate tennis court playing surfaces.    Quasar has delivered a quality project on time and met all the school’s design requirements to a high standard of finish.
