The project to upgrade two adjacent terrace houses included the partial demolition of one terrace and the conversion of this and the adjoining terrace into administration offices for the college. Demolition addressed hazardous materials. Construction of the two-level refurbishment included finishes, services, soft furnishings and external façade works. Floor levels were adjusted and heritage elements were reused where appropriate. This included ceilings, ceiling roses, fireplaces, stairs and trims. Safety of the students, staff and public was successfully addressed and managed. Stormwater retention was resolved. Consideration was given to the local business community. Materials handling, dust control and traffic management procedures implemented contributed to the success of this project.Works on this well-detailed and well-finished building project with heritage and service issues, in the middle of a densely populated residential area, were completed in 13 weeks. This project successfully has integrated the new and old of the terraces, providing an excellent addition to the college.
