This outstanding showroom for the Brickworks Design Studio was constructed in a heritage building in the Sydney CBD. It utilises Brickworks materials to great advantage which shows clients the products and what can be achieved with those products.
The two main features of this project are the Poesia glass bricks and the heritage cast-iron columns.
The Poesia glass bricks were the first installation in Australia which necessitated engineering for support of the 4m-high solid glass brick wall. The installation and integration of the steel supports and the final three-stage polishing and finishing required detailed supervision and attention to detail by RBG Services. The effect upon entry is striking.
The eight heritage columns were initially sand blasted and then primed, then filled and sanded a number of times before the final three coats of lacquer were applied. The finish is dramatic and of a high standard.
The levelling of the undulating substrate was critical before the floor could be laid with a 30mm-thick limestone tile in a French pattern.
The site was restricted due to its location and footprint area but RBG Services has achieved a showroom finished to a high standard, which reflects the desired effect.
