Continuous improvement is something Richard Crookes Constructions Safety Team are not afraid of, more so well versed in. Reflected in this year’s submission when questioning the status quo of how typical construction projects address ‘Risk Assessments’. Culminating in an opportunity to improve the process. Born was the development of an innovative and intuitive application called ‘Risk Assessor’. The intent of Richard Crookes Constructions was to develop a tool to ‘prompt’ the user on the typical key hazards and appropriate controls across various construction activities, and not provide a ‘completed template’, yet prompt and ‘coach’ the user in effective risk management. Site based project teams have commented how the application has led to ‘meaningful’ risk assessment discussions, stakeholder buy-in and acceptance, measurable improvements in planning and safe outcomes. The simple format of highlighting the actual defined High Risk Activities is just one feature that the teams cross check with associated safety documentation, with great success.
