The retirement village comprising 41 Independent Living Units is situated on 3.4 hectares of native bushland with additional features such as extensive outdoor space with BBQ’s & gazebo, & indoor facilities such as communal kitchen, lounge, snooker room, gymnasium & indoor 20m lap pool. Specific construction difficulties stemmed from the steep topography of the site, the limited street access, the limited lay down/storage areas & the variable nature of the foundation material. Foundation designs for each individual structure could not be finalized until excavation to the specific level of each structure was completed. This in turn affected construction planning & sequencing. Despite the mentioned difficulties the Richard Crookes team have achieved a high-quality result on a very difficult and constrained site.
