The client wanted to reopen a five-star hotel in Double Bay after the existing building, formerly a hotel, had been unoccupied for six years. The existing building was in poor condition and a full cosmetic refurbishment required, along with services infrastructure and BCA upgrades for current compliance.
The refurbishment consisted of 140 guestrooms and corridors over four levels.
The public areas on the ground floor and levels 1 and 2 including ballroom, function areas, kitchens and bar area were all upgraded.
A new rooftop bar and pool were added where a condemned space existed previously, resulting in harbour views from this location.
The detailed scope of work had to be determined following a detailed investigative stage. The extent of compliance issues was determined and collaboration with the consultant team essential to ensure documentation was carried out in accordance with the program.
The new works were well executed and the public areas, conference areas, rooftop pool and bar areas were all well finished.
The works were completed as programmed and the hotel opened as planned.
