The judges felt this design lent itself to low-maintenance, entertainment-friendly, family-based living while having an edge for detail as a point of difference rarely seen in similar projects. The construction comprised of waffle pod slab floor and a structural-steel superstructure which created interesting and appealing building cantilevers. The building was clad with cedar lining boards, FC panels and FC weatherboards, producing an efficient and interesting integrated cladding system. A large proportion of the design and detailing was carried out in house, which allowed the building team significant input into what the judges thought was a very appealing home deserving of a merit award in this very competitive category of the Housing Awards.
