Elizabeth Bay Marina has existed for more than 100 years and was deteriorating and vulnerable to flooding. This design and construct contract involved the demolition of the existing marina structure and the construction of a new enlarged marina with enlarged and more accessible marina facilities, floating pontoons in lieu of a fixed wharf, café, fuel storage and bowsers, storage for canoes and skis, retail spaces, public amenities and change rooms. The builder has produced a very well-constructed facility of outstanding quality on the shores of Sydney Harbour in a densely populated residential area, while ensuring that the complexities of constructing over water and on land and the associated environmental and safety issues were addressed. The project was delivered in 41 weeks.
