Creating a swimming pool and overall poolscape which integrates seamlessly with the landscaped alfresco area was a key requirement of this contemporary Northern Beaches home. The pool has been designed so it’s part of the home – it abuts the timber decking, which runs the length of the home, with a sheer-descent water feature installed in the middle of the decking wall. Timber steps lead into the pool and its surrounds. On the other three sides of the pool, stone coping was used, with three deck jets spaced equidistantly along the coping, between the pool and garden. As the home features a number of indoor and outdoor living/entertaining areas which lead out onto the pool area, frameless glass fencing was used to ensure the pool is an integral part of the home’s free-flowing design. LED underwater lighting enhances the ambience of the pool and three different water features. The pool is fully tiled, with the light-blue hues contrasting perfectly with the rich-coloured timber and light-coloured stone. Ease of maintenance is also a key feature and includes an automatic sensor dosing system, in-floor cleaning system and automatic water leveller. Construction of the pool wasn’t without its challenges, particularly as the water table was 600mm underground, which meant pool excavation had to be shored to keep as much water out of the site as possible. In addition, the pool had to be supported by screw pipes. Top work by Sunrise Pools.
