The project comprises 38 generous-sized two-bedroom independent living units across two inter-connected four- and five-storey buildings. There is an interconnected basement carpark with storage for each unit and a community area, function room, chapel, café, swimming pool, hairdressing salon, library and arts and craft room. There were challenges for the builder in building the project around existing high-risk services, commissioning of two substations and one main switchboard while a dementia facility was still in operation. A major challenge was building a basement within an existing water table and guaranteeing the construction wouldn’t experience flooding.
