The Wildlife Retreat at Taronga spans across a 12,000m2 site and wraps around its own private wildlife sanctuary nestled within the zoo. Taylor delivered seven new buildings, the refurbishment of an existing function centre and the construction of several new animal exhibits and habitats including pools, ponds and aviaries. The structure of the five accommodation buildings utilised cross-laminated timbers, which provided environmental benefits in lieu of conventional structural systems.
