This project involved the extensions and renovations to an original 1930s Byron Bay home and the construction of a separate granny flat in the rear yard that was sympathetic to the design and features of the original home.
The heritage area zoning presented its own unique challenges, but the large quarter-acre block enabled the design to be ideally located on the land to maximise the abundant winter sunshine and northern views. 
Internally, the walls and ceilings are lined with painted timber V-jointed lining boards and the mezzanine floor framing has been left exposed to complement the decor inside the main home. The quality of the build and the builder’s attention to detail is evident throughout the whole of new home.
Overall, the new studio cottage has been constructed to a superior quality and reflects a respect for the original home and area.
