Torino Food services new NSW distribution centre and commercial office is a purpose-built facility located at Ingleburn in Sydney’s south west. The building is to provide premium ambient, freezer and cold storage solutions for Torino’s import and distribution operations. The building is required to hold large volumes of stock under tight temperature controls. The double –deep storage system provides capacity to store 5,196 pallets of food products. The building structure consists of 150mm RC fibre reinforced Armour jointed slab on ground with strip footings, pads to concrete columns and post tensioned suspended slabs and steel roof framing. The building incorporates customer showroom, staff amenities, storage areas including freezers and temperature controlled loading docks. The upper level includes office areas, conference facilities, storage and server rooms. External finishes include compressed fibre cement cladding, Alucobond, elliptical louvres, metal roofing and full height glazing to office areas. Significant refrigerated areas impacted on the materials used and incorporated major refrigeration plant to achieve these requirements. Access issues included being constructed adjacent to a freight line and neighbours on the remaining sides. Theses constraints impacted on the construction methodology. The general quality of the finishes was high with good quality concrete works in the warehouse and refrigerated areas. The works were well executed with due consideration given for the imposed requirements resulting from the facility being a food storage facility thereby imposing a high degree of compliance to many aspects of the project.
