The CONCOURSE at Chatswood
Prize
Winner

The Concourse Chatswood project is a $145 million dollars (exc GST) iconic building which was completed in 3 years with no extensions of time, minimal variations and maintaining the original design intent and a high standard of finish.
The facade to the building is one of a sweeping curve that required a support structure that not only produced this result but required facade panels fixings could be easily achieved without the requirement for intermediate trimmers or bridging.
In conjunction with the Architects and Engineers  A W Edwards developed the scheme presented at tender by changing the position of the span centres of the Fielders Kingflor system both vertically and horizontally achieving:-
•    A simpler frame design that maintained the integrity of the Architectural design
•    Reduced tonnage for structural steel
•    Less components = faster erection
•    Structural rain screen = improved weathering
•    Improved safety – minimized loose components, reduced time on scaffold, reduced manual handling
•    Improved erection efficiency
Without Kingflor, the framing would have been significantly more complex and would have required with more onsite time to set out and install the facade.
