This project involved the development of a design brief for the hospital, developing enabling works, construction documentation and cost-planning advice, and the construction and fitout of an eight-storey reinforced concrete structure building and bulk excavation of 55,000m3 of rock for three levels of basement carpark with post-tension floor slabs and a pre-fabricated steel frame with composite aluminium and glass façade cladding.  The fit-out of the private hospital incorporated 151 medical, surgical and maternity inpatient beds, nine operating theatres, a cardiac catheter laboratory, intensive care unit, day oncology unit, retail pharmacy and pathology. In addition to the hospital fit-out, provision was made for 4000sqm of specialist medical suites on the upper floors.  The project presented the building team a number of challenges for the site establishment and materials handling due to the irregular shape of the building, limited surrounding site area, an aerial ambulance flight path, another major project under construction on the opposite of the road and a functioning day surgery on the eastern boundary.  The impact of two large projects taking place on the opposite sides of the one road was minimised by both builders developing a combined traffic and pedestrian management plan.  An extremely high quality of services installation and finishes has been achieved throughout the hospital while accelerating the construction program to provide early access for the client months ahead of contract program, at no additional cost.
