Stick to the current NCC version in your state or territory
The Australian Building Codes Board (ABCB) have advised that the National Construction Code (NCC) recently received a number of questions from industry and community members about when the next edition of the NCC will be published.
In past cycles, the ABCB have published a 'Preview' version of the NCC in February and a final version for commencement in May. The ABCB will not be following that pattern in 2025.
While some practitioners are familiar with the changes, the ABCB proposed in the Public Comment Draft (May 2024),they have not yet provided their final advice to Building Ministers and, therefore, no decision has been made about the content, publication or commencement of any future edition.
Practitioners should continue working in accordance with the NCC version, and adoption timeline, currently in place in the jurisdiction relevant to their work.
ABCB will provide another update when more information is available.
