The NSW Government is investing $20.2 million over three years in the Women in Construction Industry Innovation Program to create inclusive workplace cultures, attract and retain women in the construction industry, and support women in leadership roles. Master Builders Association of NSW has been awarded a grant under this initiative to conduct a survey that aims to understand better the impact of workplace humour, including banter, on women in the NSW construction sector.
This project, undertaken by researchers from RMIT University’s School of Property, Construction and Project Management, will examine humour’s positive and negative aspects to gain insights into its effects on women’s health, well-being, and career retention. By studying these dynamics, we aim to foster a more inclusive, respectful, and supportive culture within the industry.
How You Can Support: We encourage you to share this survey invitation with any women within your organisation and invite them to participate. The survey is accessible here
Survey Details:
- Duration: 10–15 minutes to complete
- Incentives: Participants have a chance to win one of three $100 gift cards
- Confidentiality: All responses are anonymous, with no identifying company information recorded
Your participation is integral to creating more inclusive and respectful workplaces in construction. The insights gained from this survey will play a crucial role in understanding women's challenges and helping to bridge the gender gap in the industry. We are proud to contribute to this important initiative and appreciate your support in making this industry a more welcoming space for all.
We sincerely thank you for supporting this important research project.
